There are different reaction to a show. One can be captured by the single piece, someone else by the overall impression. Others – I am pretty sure – are just there to say “I was here. I saw this one also.” Anyway, for me to enter a new show is a different experience every time, and I can be driven in my visit now by the display, and then by the works per se. Even if I am generally feeling the atmosphere inside the space I am usually not affected by the personal emotion I am feeling until I am on the gallery threshold. Therefore, the visit is a peculiar process of understanding, a route that moves from question to question inspired b what I am seeing.
In my last post I listed a series of thoughts that have been the steps to the better understanding, and a way of living the artists’ residence in Milan. The possibility to explore a show through traces, notes leading a imaginary walk from one work to the other (and form one to the other personality/sensibility) gives the opportunity to experience more than just visiting the show.
I like Marnix De Nijs’ presentation of his show on display at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. At some point he describes an interesting image: “flying in and landing” in the work. How appropriate a contept this is!
I would love to drive people who will be coming on Thursday night special opening at O’, through a “participative” experience through Line Bruntse’s and Heldi Pema’s works. And, at the same time, to be driven by an exchange of impressions.
Then, come with an open mind, and be ready to question yourself on given ideas regarding the pieces on show! What will happen will be an experience. Promise.

Sono diverse le possibili reazioni ad una mostra. C’è chi è catturato da un singolo pezzo, qualcun altro dall’impressione generale. Altri – ne sono piuttosto certa – sono li per dire “Io c’ero. Ho visto anche questa”. Comunque, per me entrare in un nuova esposizione è un’esperienza diversa ogni volta. E nella mia visita posso essere guidata ora dall’allestimento, ora dal lavoro in se. Anche se generalmente faccio esperienza dell’atmosfera all’interno dello spazio di solito non resto attaccata al mio stato d’animo che vivo fin sulla soglia della galleria. Quindi, la visita è un singolare processo di comprensione, un percorso che si snoda da una domanda all’altra stimolata da quello che vedo.
Nel mio ultimo post ho riportato un elenco di pensieri che sono stati i passaggi verso una migliore comprensione e un modo di vivere la residenza a Milano.
La possibilità di esplorare una mostra attraverso tracce, appunti che conducono su un immaginario cammino da un lavoro all’altro (e dalla personalità/sensibilità di un’artista all’altro) offre l’opportunità di fare esperienza invece di, sempicemente, visitare “lo spettacolo”.
Mi è molto piaciuta la presentazione che Marnix De Nijs fa del suo lavoro in mostra a Palazzo Strozzi a Firenze. Ad un certo punto l’artista descrive un interessante immagine: “volare (nell’immagine) e (li) atterrare”. Quanto mi appare appropriato questo concetto!
Mi piacerebbe guidare gli spettatori che verranno giovedì sera all’apertura speciale di O’ attraverso un’esperienza partecipata delle mostre di Line Bruntse e Heli Pema. E allo stesso tempo essere guidata dallo scambio di impressioni.
Dunque, venite con mente aperta, pronti a farvi domande su date idee riguardo ai pezzi in mostra. Quello che succederà sarà di per se una esperienza.
