(our understanding of the artwork is not fixed)…but constantly changes*.
Surprising and amazing. Jan De Cook arrives in Milan next month. He will exhibit at Francesca Minini gallery, one of the “young” gallery I mostly appreciate in the city’s contermpoary art panorama. I found courageous the choices made every time. Not dull or expected. Not to mention the location and settings, modern, urban, different.
I hope to have soon enought time to write more about De Cook whose work seems to get inspiration from Ilya Kabakov and Marcel Broodthaers.
Jan De Cook, born in Brussels 34 year ago, was the second Belgian artist after Luc Tuymans to exhibit at the Tate Modern in London, and was the first one to show at MoMa, NY, in 2008. Here follows a video from that solo show.
